Call for abstracts

Dear Madam,
Dear Sir,

from November the 4th to 9th 2003 the 14th European Students Conference (ESC) will be held at Charité, medical faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.

The annually conducted conference serves as a platform for students and young scientists to present their scientific work to an international audience and a jury of highly qualified senior scientists from all over the world. We are happy to welcome an increasing number of participants every year. Last years conference was attended by 220 active - i.e. junior scientists presenting their work - and around the same amount of passive participants from at least 40 different countries.
Beside the presentations this year's program consists of workshops on topics like "Research Exchange", "Alternative Medicine" or "Fundraising".
In addition we will have a number of lectures on recent developments in medical research by renown scientists like Professor Siegenthaler from Zuerich (Switzerland) and Professor Jonathan Cole, Southampton.

This year's conference focuses on "Neurosciences", "Infectious Diseases" and "Pharmacology" - but as always, we will have lots of sessions on other topics such as "Hypertension", "Diabetes" or "Immunology". The current list of planed sessions contains 25 different ones.

The best works will be awarded with prizes and scholarships in the total amount of more than 11.000¤.

The European Students Conference is intended for junior scientists such as graduates, diplomats and post-docs from the field of biomedical research. We welcome every student and young scientist working in disciplines like medicine, biology, computer sciences, genetics or biochemistry to hand in his or her abstract.

Application for active participation is only possible through our websites http://esc.charite.de or http://www.esc-berlin.com and stays open until 15th of July 2003.

The election of active participants will be conducted by our scientific jury after the review at the 15th of August.

We kindly ask you to also forward this call for abstracts among your colleagues and look forward to your application.

For further information you can contact us by email on info@esc-berlin.com or by letter.

We wish you all the best for your application.

With kindest regards from Berlin

Schuster, Friederike Ufer, Nadja Ledenig,

12th Annual International Ain Shams Medical Students' Congress
Cairo-Egypt; 15th 18th February 2004

An enormously expanding success for 11 successive years, allows the A.S.S.S (Ain Shams Students' Scientific Society) to proudly announce the 12th. Ain Shams Medical Students Congress on the 15th -18th February 2004. To our pride, our annual congress has proved tremendous excellence as witnessed by all those participants from different nations all across the globe, impressed by a challenging scientific core, all competing for being the top, lying within a very friendly welcoming atmosphere, on the most admirable authentic spot on earth, Cairo.
Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is the biggest and most populated city in the Middle East. Cairo is a wonderful blend of many historical eras; the Pharaohs, the Greeks, the Romans and the Islamic Empire. Cairo is also a museum of ancient temples, mosques and churches. It is a city where past meets present, where ancient meets modern in unique harmony. On this land you can have the best memories of your life, its marvelous and maddening with wide spectrum of humanity.
This Little world, the great Cairo The most admirable and the greatest city seen upon the earth  The microcosms of the great world                                      William Lithgow, 1614
It is a great honour that Egypt the land of pharaohs, has been such a unique gathering for medical students from all over the world.

Over the past 11 years, the Ain Shams Annual Medical Student Congress has been a great attraction to medical students from all different nations, and the potential and integrity of the conference are on a steady rise.

The theme of the 12th congress, which is to be held on 15th 18th  February,2004, is titled "RECENT ADVANCES IN MEDICINE". The fact that the participants ought to participate with original masterpieces of their own research, creates a very competent atmosphere throughout the congress sessions.   It has proven & continues to prove of outmost interest and enriching stimulation of participants' creativity and scientific research to participate with challenging research papers for discussion and evaluation.

Not only do the participants aim for such an event for presenting the outcomes of their research, but to enjoy a magical experience in Egypt,  and a fascinating journey heading from the authentic Cairo, down  through the beautiful magical red sea resorts in Hurghada, deep into the Sahara deserts, south into the most ancient spot on earth, Luxor, which holds one third of the Earth's monuments.

Enjoy an experience through the land's 7 millennia of history!

Va multumesc si va rog sa-i anuntati si pe cei interesati,

Liviu Bran
OSM Cluj

deocamdata incercam sa-i ajutam cu med.pub.ro ;) imediat revine siteul :)

Salut!

adresa http://med.pub.ro/osm/medicalis/ .

Hello everybody!!

I would like to inform all of you that International training for
medical students, which has been announced already on the GA in
Estonia and was disscused in the form of working group on the GA in
Holland is defenitely happening.

This training is intended for all medical students, and we are trying
to get representatives from as many countries in the world as
possible.
It will take place in Cairo, from 15th to 18th of February, 2004,
followed by a postmeeting tour:)))
Our webpage is stil under construction, but you can check first info
on: http://www.scome-it.8m.com

Amr Elseify is head organiser, working hard on organisation of this
training, you can contact him at : amrelseify@yahoo.com

The organising commitee is asking you for help in inviting your
fellow medical students to this training, so we could really have as
many different nationalities present as possible, since one part of
this training is comparison and representation of different medical
educational systems.

On the other hand Hans Jacob, Ozzi and I would also like to emphasize
that this training will also be a great oppurtunity for SCOME
community to meet and work on common goals of SCOME International in
this year and for the years to follow.
For all of you that are not able to attend the SCOME meetings and GA
in Venezuela,it would be especially crucial to join us in Cairo,so we
could have at least one oppurtunity to get together and see each
other!!!!and to party together, of course;))

So, again, help us in getting the poeple, and help us advertise this
training in your countries!!
I would also like to ask especially all the NOMEs, who are surounded
by hard working teams, to pass this invitation to people, who cannot
go to GA, but do deserve some kind of reward...this is the best
oppurtunity:))))

If you have any more questions on this, don't hesitate to ask....And
we definetely hope to see you all there!!!!

many kisses from international OC team of the training

Hans Jacob ( Scome-Director: scomed@ifmsa.org)
Ozzi (Liason Officer for Medical Education Issues: ozzi@gmx.com) and
Katja ( Scome-director Assistant: katjak@ksmf.org)

Dear all,

We'd like to officially invite you to a great event that SloMSIC,Slovenia
organises in cooperation with EMSA and IFMSA!

What will be going on?

BOLOGNA PROCESS FOLLOW-UP WORKSHOP AND SKIWEEK INTERNATIONAL 2004!!!

BOLOGNA PROCESS FOLLOW-UP WORKSHOP on 6th and 7th of February 2004
( This will be the most important EUROPEAN SCOME event in this year, so
please make sure that at least one from each country comes to
Slovenia...we will try to get cheaper flights from all over Europe to
here so that you will really have the possibility to attend;))))

Joint document, known as the Bologna Declaration, promises to change
European higher education in the next decade, creating a truly European
space of education, promoting student and staff mobility and assuring
quality of education as well as lifelong learning.

Many things remain obscure in the implementation of the proposed
alterations to existing medical curricula. In workshop in Poznan (April
25th -27th)we have already discussed possible impacts of this process for
medical education.

Two days' workshop will take place on medical faculty in Ljubljana,
Slovenia. We will invite professors from Medical Faculty, University of
Ljubljana, representatives from ESIB (European Student International
Board), Slovenian Student Organisation and Slovenian School Ministry.

After thorougly discussing medical curricula from different countries we
will write an OFFICIAL STATEMENT of medical students in Europe on the
issue of Bologna Process, in order for medical students to be more than
just passive observers... So at least one participant from each european
country must be present! Everybody is of course most welcome since...

When we will have finished with all hard work , we will informally
continue with

SKI WEEK INTERNATIONAL 2004 from 8th to 14th February 2004

An international sporting event whose aim is to promote international
cooperation and to create a relaxed atmosphere where new friendships and
ideas are born…while skiing and having a lot of fun!

This year we are going to beautiful ski resort Golte in Slovenia in the
proximity of thermal resort Topolšica, with new ski lifts. We are also
staying in a brand new hotel - opened yesterday!

As usually we have prepared an unforgettable social programme . A small
surprise also awaits all the participants!

The price will be 25 Euro for Bologna Process Follow-up Workshop and 250
Euro for Ski Week International. The price includes:

- accomodation, half-board + lunch in Ljubljana
- social programme in Ljubljana

- accomodation in Hotel Benda
- half board (self-service breakfast) + lunch packet
- ski pass
- transport Ljubljana - Golte + ski bus
- social programme

Of course it is also possible to register for either of the events -
Bologna Process Follow-up Workshop or Ski Week International 2004 only.

In few days you'll be able to get even more detailed information and to
register online at

http://www.slomsic.org/bolognaandski2004

Well, YOU ARE MOST WELCOME AND INVITED TO PARTICIPATE - BY ALL MEANS
DON'T MISS THIS UNFORGETTABLE EVENT!

For any further information don't hesitate to contact us at
ajda@ksmf.org or katjak@ksmf.org!

Yours,

Ajda Skarlovnik and Katja Kovac (NOME Slovenia - SCOME Director
Assistant)

Salut!

Floreasca, etajul 5.
