Residency in Romania

Hello to everyone! I'm not sure that's the right place to post since I'm not familiar with Romanian (Google translate wasn't very helpful as well (don't ask me how I managed to answer the question in the registration form )), but I'll be really grateful if someone could give me some answers that's been bothering me lately.
Recently I've been thinking about residency in Romania. I'm currently a 4th-year student in Varna, Bulgaria and I'm already thinking about possibilities of residency abroad. I'm not very into those popular countries where most of my colleagues use to go - I mean mostly Germany and the UK. So I came to the idea that Romania, and especially Bucharest, is a quite good option.
So my question is: since I'm a EU citizen, what's the procedure of residency in Romania? Is it paid or for free? What's the average income of a resident? Is it worth it?

First, thanks for the answer! Living in Bulgaria for the last 23 years made me strong enough I guess.
Like I said, I don't want to leave for Western Europe. Better lifestyle and income are not what I'm looking for. If that was my main goal, I would stay in Bulgaria where big cities offer good salaries for medical workers, and also, not bad working environment.
What makes you so pessimistic about career in Romania?
By the end of the month I plan visiting Bucharest for a very first time. I hope the city is as lovely as I expect.

I think you didn't kill yourself studying, you have no guts for western europe and somehow you think that in romania the dogs are running with pretzels in the tail.

thus, he is the least qualified person (in the world) to even speak about the romanian residency programme.
nevertheless he has the audacity to give advice about it.

Lately I've been seriously thinking over the idea of becoming an oncologist if it does actually matter.
I'm feeling uncomfortable to talk about my own achievements, but I'm one of the best among my colleagues according to the grades and, trust me, it fucked me up like nothing. If it does matter also. And by the way, I don't know how it is in Romania, but it wouldn't be far from truth if I say that here many of the poor students go abroad. And there's a simple reason for that - in Bulgaria you need to have a good diploma to start working whatever you wish. And if you don't have one, you go to Germany where they really don't care for your diploma as long as you work your ass off.
And I'm not "running" from Bulgaria. I like it here, I can't say a single bad word for my education or for the working options I have, but there's some irrational willing to try somewhere else.
I'm sorry to hear that working in Romania means that you can't live be your own counting on your salary. I said that money aren't that important to me, but I can't let my parents sustain me after graduating. And once again, thanks for your comments. I highly appreciate that you took your time to answer my questions.

the same thing happened to the young romanians that went to Western Europe (excepting MumaPadurii and Janos).

Being a doctor in Romania is not as bad as they say. You can have e decent salary here if you work in private hospitals. You must know from the beginning that you will not work in a public hospital when your residency is over.
I had serbian colleagues that learned romanian in only one year, but they did not receive salary while residents, but a grant (you should ask at Bulgarian Ministry oh Health about it). They are all fine now, one of them received romanian citizenship and now is my bo$$.

Morphea, we are not xenophobic.
We strongly believe however that Bulgarians have peculiar wide neck (a very common stereotype) and that your national activity is to manufacture pickles.
We don't particularly like the fact that South Dobruja is Bulgarian now but we are building an army to solve this issue. Be reassured, is not going to happen tomorrow.
Bulgaria is a constant competitor for us to win the last place in Europe as the most corrupt country, the poorest one and so on and we don't like competition.
We see Bulgarians as a type of Russians with incredible growing vegetables skills.
My personal experience with Bulgaria is scarce. I had to cross Bulgaria by car to reach Greece. I remember the Bulgarian orange juice, it tasted like old romanian 'brifcor'. Not sure this information is relevant for you.
I have some Bulgarian friends. The girl is gorgeous. The guy thought Romanian language has Illyrian origin. We had a long debate about and he ended up arguing that Bulgarians have the biggest cocks in the region. I trust you will find the truth.

I'm absolutely OK with giving you back South Dobrudja, but you should know that it comes with the dumbest peasants you can imagine and their terrible driving skills or I should say lack of driving skills. Please make sure that they'll never come back.
BTW, do your politician use the sentence "Look at us, even Bulgarians are better than us now" when they want to underline how bad it is? I can easily imagine my grandma saying "Even in Romania is probably not that bad".
